Hi, I’m Bonnie.
I'm a registered, independent, home birth midwife and founder of
Inner Calm Birthing
Based in Taunton, I provide one-to-one home birth care across Somerset and Devon, supporting families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, all in the comfort of your own home.
That means you'll see the same independent midwife (me!), for every appointment, and I'll be right there with you for your home birth and the early weeks with your baby.
Your care is always centered around you, grounded in trusting your body, your choices, and the wonder of physiological birth, supported by evidence-based midwifery care and ongoing personalised support.
Together, we'll create a relaxed, safe space where you can feel confident, informed, and ready as you prepare to welcome your newest family member.
Independent midwifery Care
Care with an independent midwife is a bit like having someone in your corner who really gets you. Not just the clinical stuff, but the little things.
The way your shoulders tense when something’s bothering you, the pause in your voice when you’re holding something back, the things that make you feel safe, and the things that don’t.
It’s knowing when to step in and when to give you space.
When to sit with you in the quiet, and when to help you find your voice.
It’s having someone who will truly listen, without rushing, without brushing things off.
Over time, the relationship starts to feel familiar and easy.
The kind of relationship where you don’t have to keep explaining yourself. When something's not quite right, I'll know, without you saying a word.
It's where you feel comfortable being yourself; whether you’re laughing, crying, angry, frustrated, or just needing that little bit of reassurance from a friendly face.
I’ll get to know you. You’ll get to know me.
And by the time your baby’s ready to arrive, I won’t just be turning up as ‘the midwife’.
I’ll be someone you recognise, someone who understands what matters to you, someone you trust, and someone who’ll be right there with you through it all.
