About Me
Meet Your Independent Midwife, Bonnie
My fascination with pregnancy and birth began with my own experiences of maternity care, so much so, that I became a Maternity Care Assistant, and I loved it.
I realised early on that one of my real strengths was in building genuine connections with women and their families, offering meaningful support at such a pivotal time in their lives. It was this that led me to train as a midwife. I went on to earn my BSc (Hons) in Midwifery, qualifying in 2019.
My career in maternity services spans over 13 years, including many years as an NHS midwife working in both hospital and birth centre settings.
Over time, I found myself wanting more, for the women in my care and for the way I could support them. More time. More choice. More continuity. Care that felt truly woman-centred.
Becoming an Independent (Private) Midwife has given me the space to offer exactly that. One-to-one, personalised care that supports women throughout pregnancy, home birth, and the early weeks of parenting, on their terms, in their own time, in a way that genuinely feels right for them.
That’s really where Inner Calm Birthing began; from a desire to offer something more personal. A slower pace, real connection, and the kind of support that fits around you and your journey.
Professional Standards
I am a Registered Midwife, regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which means I follow the NMC Code and professional standards to provide safe, evidence-based care.
I am a member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), which helps ensure I stay up to date with professional guidance, research, and wider healthcare developments.
I hold full indemnity insurance and regularly update my skills and training to ensure the care I offer remains current and of the highest quality.
I am also a member of ZEST, a supportive community of independent Midwives and birth workers across the UK.
ZEST provides access to peer support, reflective practice, ongoing professional development and continued learning within a community that shares my commitment to personalised, relationship-based care. Being part of this network supports me to keep growing professionally while staying connected, supported, and well-resourced in my independent practice.
